Things to Share

A Scentsy warmer :)
I've noticed a lot of bloggers sharing the same sentiments that I have been feeling lately.  Do I really want to continue this blogging thing; am I really that exciting that people want to read about me; I haven't been crafting much lately; and do I really want to spend this much time on my computer?  It has been nice to know that others feel the same way that I do!  I think that everyone is coming up with what works best for them - and most of us are sticking with it but cutting down on the computer/blogging time.  As my friend Naomi says "it's all good"!

I've decided to share here and there with you, not feel guilty about not posting, and to bring you ideas that I find as I surf the web.  The posts will be called "Things to Share".  So often as I cruise the web, I find ideas that I want to share with you, my friends, but I forget them as I move along from site to site.  I decided to keep some sticky notes and share them with you as I collect them.  Now if I can just figure out how to make it so that a new window opens as you click on them.  More html to learn!

Some personal information to share with you - my oldest son just got his drivers permit!  I looked at him last night from the passenger seat and couldn't help thinking of him as I strolled the streets with him in the stroller, thinking of me letting go of the back of his bike as he learned to ride without training wheels and thinking of him on his first day of kindergarten as I followed his bus, crying.  Time really does fly by!  In just 2 years, he'll graduate from high school and then will be off on his mission.  I am crying now as I think of missing him so much while he is gone, yet I am so proud of the young man he is becoming.  How lucky I am to be his Mom and to be the Mom of 3 more wonderful children.

We are flying back to New England on June 4th for the summer.  I cannot wait!  I think the very first official thing I am going to do is drive to the beach - kiss the sand and walk in that freezing cold Atlantic Ocean.  I really do like it here in West Texas, but I do miss my New England.  Fall was the most difficult time for me - I missed the leaves SO much.  We will be heading up to Maine to get our home ready to put on the market to sell.  I am praying for a quick sale, although we'll be homeless if it sells too fast!  I do NOT want to come back to Texas in the heat of the summer, so we may be slumming it for a bit in July and August.

I purchased a new treat and I really, really like it!  It's a Gidget I table that allows your machine to sit table level.  Here she is:

Have you ever seen this fabric?? I am going to use FabricFinder to hopefully name the designer/line.  I am using it for PieceNQuilt's BOM and I am almost out of each color.  So, if it looks familar to you, please send me a note to let me know the line.  It came out the summer of 2009 - I think!
Here's my Things to Share for today:

Fantastic sale at The Quilt Shoppe!

April 19th is the last day to vote over at the AccuQuilt Barn Quilt Design Contest.  There are lots of familar names in the competition.

If you are ever looking for a recipe, try this site.  It's my go to for all recipes.  It's called CD Kitchen.  LOVE it!! They even have copy-cat recipes.

A wonderful artist, Catherine Young,  that I've come across is making her art into embroidery patterns.  Here is her blog and here is her ETSY store.  So adorable!

Moda is still taking One Stars for the Quilts of Valor.  The deadline to mail your stars is May 1, 2011.  Here's the link :)

And finally, you may have seen the Scentsy link on the top of my sidebar.  I am now working as a Scentsy consultant and would love for you to check out this great company and their awesome products.  Scentsy makes ceramic warmers that melt scented wax.  You can fill your home with luscious scents and not worry about a candle flame.  It's an awesome idea and the products are really made well.  I LOVE SCENTSY!!  Here's my link - check the site out when you have a few minutes - bookmark for later if you have to.  Also, if you sign up to receive my newsletter you will be entered each month into my giveaways.  New month - new giveaway!  AND for my readers in the UK and Germany - Scentsy is coming to you!  If you are interested in being a consultant (selling the products), you have to sign up under a current consultant - which could be ME!!  You would be on the ground floor of this company - which is huge deal.  What I like about the company is that you can treat it as a hobby OR you can really make some money with it.  It's all up to you :)

Take care everyone and see you next time.  Thanks for taking the time to read my thoughts - I appreciate you!

  5. I've never been to your site before, but stumbled on it today! The fabric is Whimsy (I believe) put out by Michael Miller. My mom actually owns a fabric store in Pampa, TX and has part of the line... her site is www.lilliesthimble.com. I'm not trying to be an advertiser, just thought I'd help you out :) Have a great day!

  6. I know what you mean about the blog thing. I like to think of it as a journal first. I hope that sharing things I have discovered over time might just make life a bit easier for someone else. I also love to surf around and share some of the great sites I find.
Watching our children grow up and become independent is hard but also very rewarding. They are meant to leave the nest.
    Thanks for the links.
    Cheers,
    Val

  7. Hi Laurie,
I have not been as good about posting on my blog, but I am NOT going to make myself feel guilty.....I am doing this for fun and I do love the connections that I have made.

If you are in Southern Maine, shoot me an e-mail and I would be glad to take you the the local quilt shop or maybe even for some yummy ice cream.

I hope that you have success in selling your home in a timely manner.

    Blessings,
    Denise

  8. Good for you on blogging without obligation, Laurie! Eek a teen driver....I just got through that myself. I'm the kind of person who never lets anybody else drive, even hubs - I have to be in control. This was one of the hardest things I ever did, lol.

Maine in summer - bliss! I hope your house sells fast but not too fast. Love your new table, where did you get it?

Thanks for the links - I'm in love with Catherine Young's work!
